Onchain Leagues
One of the first applications on PVP will be the launch of smart contract-powered onchain gaming leagues. A league is a collection of people, countries, or groups that combine for a particular purpose. In gaming this typically means to form a competitive gaming league, but it can also be for other types of cooperation.
This onchain infrastructure will address issues like non-transparent business practices and misuse of funds, which have plagued centralized esports leagues.
PVP’s League management software will have no fees for competitors, lowering the barrier to entry and encouraging broader participation among traditional gamers. Its payment tech will be blockchain-based, ensuring transparency and equitable payment distribution. This software will showcase the benefits of how blockchain tech can improve global competition and make it more equitable and decentralized fashion.
Onchain Leagues Enable:
- Efficient payments with increased transparency
- Equitable revenue share of sponsorship, media rights, tickets, merch, and digital asset sales
- Onchain fan engagement tools
- Ability to buy and sell ownership slots
- Diverse “Council” voted in by the community
Embracing a more decentralized approach, onchain leagues seeks to improve outdated league systems by ushering in onchain leagues to the forefront of the competitive gaming landscape.
The concept of League Operator Nodes is similar to the franchising model that has been used across traditional sports leagues like the NFL and game titles like Overwatch, Call of Duty, and League of Legends where the inception of new leagues required upfront capital to be structured and jump started by groups of franchise owners.
Esports teams, web3 communities, and content creators can pool together financial and social resources to kickstart leagues. A league can represent any type of large scale competition spanning one or more game titles or even featuring other types of content like game shows and other spectator-focused competitions.
League Operator Nodes: Organizations like esports teams and web3 communities who want to pool together resources to inaugurate a league’s infrastructure can take ownership of League Operator Nodes which grants them revenue sharing rights in the league.
Fan Nodes: Fans and spectators who want to participate in a league’s open economy can acquire Fan Nodes. They will have a claim to a percentage of the leagues overall revenue. These types of nodes also grant owners access to additional fan engagement rewards from online and in-person events.
