Onchain Leagues

3min

One of the first applications on PVP will be the launch of smart contract-powered onchain gaming leagues. A league is a collection of people, countries, or groups that combine for a particular purpose. In gaming, this typically means to form a competitive gaming league, but it can also be for other types of cooperation.

This onchain infrastructure will address issues like non-transparent business practices and misuse of funds, which have plagued centralized esports leagues.

PVP’s League management software will have no fees for competitors, lowering the barrier to entry and encouraging broader participation among traditional gamers. Its payment tech will be blockchain-based, ensuring transparency and equitable payment distribution. This software will showcase the benefits of how blockchain tech can improve global competition, making it more equitable and efficient.

Onchain Leagues Enable:

  • Efficient payments with increased transparency
  • Equitable revenue share of sponsorship, media rights, tickets, merch, and digital asset sales
  • Onchain fan engagement tools
  • Ability to buy and sell ownership slots
  • Diverse “Council” voted in by the community

Onchain leagues seek to improve outdated league systems and bring a more decentralized approach to the forefront of competitive gaming.

League Nodes

League Operator Nodes function much like the franchising model seen in traditional sports leagues such as the NFL or in esports titles like Overwatch, Call of Duty, and League of Legends. In these cases, the creation of new leagues relies on upfront capital from franchise owners, providing the necessary structure and resources to launch and sustain the league effectively.

Esports teams, web3 communities, and content creators can collaborate to launch leagues, bringing their resources together to create large-scale competitions or organized groups. These leagues can go beyond traditional competitive formats, incorporating diverse content such as game shows or other events designed to captivate audiences.

League Operator Nodes: Organizations like esports teams and web3 communities who want to pool together resources to inaugurate a league’s infrastructure can take ownership of League Operator Nodes which grants them revenue sharing rights and other benefits in the league.

Fan Nodes: Fans and spectators who want to participate in a league’s open economy can acquire Fan Nodes. They will have a claim to a percentage of the league's overall revenue. These types of nodes also grant owners access to additional fan engagement rewards from online and in-person events and predictions.
